We’re always told to eat our veggies and take supplements to get our vitamins in, but that’s not the only way to reap their benefits. Certain vitamins can actually be applied topically, and you don’t wanna miss out on great skin, do you?
Let’s go over the A, B, C’s, (… and E’s!) of face-friendly vitamins!
Vitamin A is one of the best vitamins you can use for age-defying results. It helps resurface the skin and soften lines and wrinkles.
Vitamin A is a form of retinoid, and seeing how many forms Vitamin A can take means there are different levels of potency for this delicate vitamin. You more-than-likely will have to see a dermatologist to receive a concentrated amount of Vitamin A, and since it can come in an acid form, it can be irritating for some users and lead to sun sensitivity.
Do your research and ask a dermatologist before getting really involved with Vitamin A products!
If you have dry, sensitive skin or suffer from an inflammatory skin issue like rosacea, Vitamin B3 is perfect for you. It’s your own personal shield to protect your skin from pollutants and irritants derived from the outside world, and it locks moisture into the skin.
You may hear Vitamin B3-rich foods referred to as Niacin. Some foods rich in Niacin include seaweed, peanuts, raw mushrooms, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and mangoes.
Vitamin C is hot in the K-Beauty world. It’s known to brighten skin, fight free-radicals, and even the skin tone. So if you suffer from ailments like acne scars, dull skin, and aging, then Vitamin C is perfect for you.
A super common topical vitamin for the skin is Vitamin E. It’s best used to repair cuts and reduce the formation of free radicals. But please note, Vitamin E isn’t known to reduce scar tissue; it’s much better-suited for fresher cuts and scrapes.
Better Skin From the Inside Out
Everything I talked above can be found in topical treatments and skincare products, but taking care of your insides can result in better skin as well.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3s are found in foods like salmon and walnuts and are great for your skin’s hydration!
Vitamins B1 and B6
Vitamins B1 and B6 help with skin-strengthening, and you can find them in foods like grains, beans, eggs, spinach, and more. These vitamins help with keeping your skin, hair, and nails healthy.
But beware! These vitamins can quickly deplete with things like stress and drinking alcohol.
Probiotics can help you get clearer skin (hallelujah!). Taking certain strains of probiotics (used usually for gut health) can tone-down things like eczema and inflammation. They can also reduce oil production, which can cause acne.
A healthy gut can lead to a healthy, well, everything else it seems!
